Assistant Engineering Technician
6+ Months Temp to perm role
Onsite 5 days/week - Jacksonville, FL - local candidates only
Roles and responsibilities:
This opportunity with client offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Technology, Commercial & Industrial Market Sector, supporting Distributed Network projects such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), while building critical civil infrastructure for todays and tomorrow’s challenges. Civil Engineering Technicians contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of site development, including grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities for these advanced industrial and commercial facilities.
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Assistant Civil Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high-quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under close supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using advanced techniques in industry-standard design tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation.
Job Summary
Provides technical support to engineering teams under close supervision
Performs tasks requiring a basic understanding of engineering principles and practices
Uses digital tools and design software (e.G., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to assist with the creation, modification, and maintenance of technical documents and drawings and project deliverables
Participates in the evaluation of methods used in the development of deliverables and design activities to support continuous improvement and efficiency
Key Responsibilities
Continuously learns and applies established standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guidelines, and client policies and procedures.
Ensures deliverables are accurate and compliant by developing knowledge of the client Quality Program.
Demonstrates strong personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
Expands technical knowledge to modify and develop less complex deliverables using various design inputs.
May assist with minor technical tasks, such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
May assist with coordination of deliverables with other project disciplines to reduce errors and interferences.
Prioritizes internal client needs while developing a basic understanding of external client drivers and expectations.
Proactively seeks out and shares knowledge of emerging technologies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma or Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
Minimum Qualifications Typically a minimum of 1-year related work experience.
