Job Description
Established and thriving financial service company specialized in automotive, real estate and new acquired marine companies is searching for a Director of Finance/2nd in Command to CFO to join their growing team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual who will oversee the company' s financial records over three sectors as well as future acquisitions. This position is one of the top-level financial positions and requires the ability to direct accounting work of some complexity.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions.
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements and statistical reports
- Assist with preparation of Acquisitions.
- Coordinating activities of external auditors
- Manage the preparation of budgets, journal entries, and general ledger.
- Provide projections and forecasts for the submission of monthly financial information to the CFO, owners, performance groups, and corporate representatives.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
- Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing accounting policies and internal control systems
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal financial, payroll and tax requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing regulatory reports, and advising management on needed actions.
- Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff
- Maintaining departmental work quality by planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees
- Protecting company by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Qualifications
- Bachelor' s degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum 5+ years of related experience
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- GAAP knowledge, CPA preferred
- Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills
- Highly Organized and able to prioritize
- Proficiency in Talon Software highly preferred
- Automotive industry experience highly preferred, but not a must have
- Has a positive attitude with an entrepreneurial mindset
