Consumers Energy is seeking a GIS Technician I to support the entry and verification of gas service data within GIS and SAP systems. The ideal candidate will work primarily in a remote setting, with flexibility to report to local Service Centers on an as-needed basis.

Job Description
Consumers Energy is seeking a GIS Technician I to support the entry and verification of gas service data within GIS and SAP systems. The ideal candidate will work primarily in a remote setting, with flexibility to report to local Service Centers on an as-needed basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Input gas service record data into GIS systems using field redlines, design drawings, and SAP Work Management System (WMS) data.
- Verify the quality, accuracy, and completeness of GIS records.
- Update GIS asset locations and attributes when discrepancies or corrections are identified.
- Ensure service designs meet required specifications and data standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve design and data issues.
- Maintain production targets and timelines while ensuring data integrity.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of GIS platforms, particularly ESRI ArcGIS.
- Understanding of utility or gas distribution systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to follow established processes and work independently in a virtual/remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tasks and technologies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAP or other Work Management Systems.
- Background in customer service or utility record maintenance.
- Familiarity with engineering or gas service design documentation.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
