Job Title: High Voltage Power Advisor
Duration: Direct Hire/ Full Time / Permanent
Location: Limon, CO or Houston/Jacksboro, TX (Hybrid)
wind farms/turbines are located in Limon, CO, and Jacksboro, TX
On-call evenings and weekends- rotation schedule? The site has lost communication, the site has shut down, etc. 1 weekend every other month, maybe a few evenings throughout the month
will travel to other sites around the US, travel once a year to facilities for 1 week
Needs to live within 75 miles
Relocation assistance? Yes
Daily schedule:
  • flex work program - work from home 2 days a week, in the field 3 days a week
  • attending meetings
  • stepping in to help troubleshoot
  • looking over all US facilities- 5 or 6 of them
  • will work with 340KV systems- high voltage
  • licensed to work on high voltage equipment
  • do not need OSEA 30 certification
  • confined space certification preferred, but not mandatory
Job Description:
  • Department: field services group, report to Director of engineering.  go out to companies (specialized inspection/task for wind and solar).  Electrical components of the wind turbine.  Need dedicates support for US and Canada.  This role will support US Turbines located Limon (CO), corpus Christi (TX), Jacksboro (TX), Moorefield (WV)
  • The High Voltage Power Advisor will represent Client Power Engineering interests within many multi-functional internal and external parties that may include Partners, Plant managers and Technicians, Vendors, Equipment manufacturers in the process of resolving equipment issues.
What You Will Do:
  • Review electrical tests, vendor maintenance reports and fluid sample results from transformers and propose follow-up actions, if required.
  • Coordinate resources, supervise and provide coaching/ quality assurance support for all high voltage/power system inspection, maintenance, installation, commissioning and testing to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and industry standard processes.
  • Provide first-level response / Tier-1 support for electrical issues in turbines, substation facilities and all circuit power lines after service interruption. This includes remote support and in-person diagnosis such as using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering team to track and resolve wind farm electrical issues, as well as to develop work instructions for testing and operation of wind turbine electrical components and substation equipment.
  • Additional duties and tasks may be assigned, as the need arises, in support of the facility or business unit.
Who You Are:
  • Ticketed Journeyperson Industrial Electrician, Journeyperson Construction and Maintenance Electrician or Journeyperson Linesman or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be licensed to work with High Voltage.
  • Valid driver’ s license with a good driving record.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to operate a variety of testing, calibration and repair devices, tools and equipment including infrared thermography scanners, voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, insulation resistance testers, high potential test sets, circuit breaker testers, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Good working knowledge of maintenance scheduling, availability reporting, inventory management, on-time performance requirements and site supervision.
Working Conditions:
  • Office environment with up to 30% travel to field locations to perform or monitor and observe work performed.
  • This position requires ability to perform tasks that require significant physical effort, working in inclement weather (temperatures greater than 35C and lower than -20C) and at heights within the substation.
  • Environment is fast-paced, and work based with competing deadlines to support aggressive operating reliability and cost goals.
Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Must meet requirements of fit for work which includes, but is not limited to, demonstrating hand, arm, back and leg coordination needed to ascend and descend a wind tower and aligning with a weight restriction of 132 kg (or 290lb) total climbing weight. Employee understands that these requirements may be modified at the Companys discretion.
  • Grasping, kneeling, light moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
