Job Description
Position: Principal RF Network Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85009 (Onsite)
Duration: 18+ Months Contract with potential for extension
Position Description:
Responsible for network administration services including design, installation, and maintenance of all aspects of network communications including local area networks, wide area networks, and communications with remote installations of the assigned network.
This role provides technical mentorship to the RF engineering staff and assists with complex maintenance issues.
This position is responsible for the network infrastructure of a wide area radio communications system and involves travel to remote locations only accessible by 4x4 and helicopter.
Skills Required:
Must have CCNP or equivalent certification Ability to design, configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment and related services.
Able to lead in the diagnosis and resolution of complex network problems.
Capable of proactively identifying and implementing automation and scripting that improve operational efficiencies and reduce the need for manual checklist completions.
Act as a collaborative service provider to our internal and external customers.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
Ability to partner with software engineering, product, and architecture to shape engineering approaches, and share knowledge and experience.
Define & review end-state architectural design documents.
Review existing policies and procedures to identify potential gaps, problems, or opportunities for improvement and develop recommendations.
Obtain and maintain required certifications.
Mentor engineers with technical knowledge.
Act as SME in the definition and policymaking of network and security protocols.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license, or the ability to obtain one, at the time of hire.
Experience Required:
Five (5) years of experience in network engineering within the last 10 years.
Experience with creating detailed network documentation.
Experience Preferred:
Experience with Nokia, Juniper, Aruba, Cisco, and Fortinet products.
Experience with MPLS, OSPF, and BGP.
Experience with creating detailed network documentation.
Experience with maintaining configurations and operating systems on various network infrastructures.
Experience with Wireless Radio Network Systems
Knowledge of Client Astro system.
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or other closely related field.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered in substitution for the minimum qualifications.
Must have CCNP or equivalent certification.
Additional Information:
May require working outside in varying temperatures, the ability to stand, bend, sit and/or kneel for prolonged periods of time, climb a 6-foot ladder and lift 30 pounds.
May require working and travelling in rough and uneven terrain.
Must have the ability to safely operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle off-road on steep mountain grade roads and travel in a helicopter to remote mountain top locations.
