CMS Energy is seeking experienced Project Cost Controller III professionals to support cost control and forecasting for large-scale construction projects. This role is critical in tracking, monitoring, and forecasting project costs to ensure budget adherence and successful financial performance.

Position Overview:
CMS Energy is seeking experienced Project Cost Controller III professionals to support cost control and forecasting for large-scale construction projects. This role is critical in tracking, monitoring, and forecasting project costs to ensure budget adherence and successful financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, control, and report on project costs across multiple projects.
- Perform invoice and contractor T&M ticket review and tracking.
- Administer change control processes and documentation.
- Analyze and interpret engineering and construction contracts for cost impact.
- Forecast project expenditures based on schedule progress and contractual obligations.
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry for reporting and financial tracking.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and executive stakeholders to ensure budget alignment.
- Interpret and utilize project schedules for cost planning and forecasting.
- Ensure adherence to corporate financial and project control standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in project cost control, particularly on large-scale construction projects or portfolios.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project controls methodologies and best practices.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computing skills.
- Ability to interpret project schedules and apply cost forecasting techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Certifications from PMI (e.G., PMP) or AACE (e.G., CCP, EVP) are highly desirable.
- Background in the energy or utilities sector is a plus.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time, onsite position based in Jackson, MI.
- Remote work is not permitted for this role.
- Candidates must provide verifiable work experience in project cost management or project controls on capital construction projects.
