Project Engineer IV
Duration: Until January 3rd 2028 (with a possibility of extension)
Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid)
 
Position Overview
We are seeking a Technical Project Engineer to lead and coordinate engineering efforts across multiple disciplines. This role serves as the central point of integration for technical project execution bringing together inputs from diverse engineering teams and translating them into clear, concise, and executable work plans.
The ideal candidate combines strong soft skills with a solid technical foundation, enabling them to understand, interpret, and produce technical documentation while facilitating collaboration across engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the project manager across all engineering disciplines, ensuring alignment, coordination, and execution.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration among:
    • Instrumentation & Controls
    • Layout Systems
    • Protection Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • High Voltage (HV) Lines Engineering
  • Consolidate technical inputs from multiple engineering teams into clear, concise execution plans.
  • Manage projects from cradle to grave, with the flexibility to join projects mid-execution as needed.
  • Oversee approximately 4 concurrent projects of varying size and complexity
  • Interface directly with CAD designers and interpret CAD drawings for engineering coordination.
  • Translate technical interpretations into clear communication for:
    • Engineers across disciplines.
    • Non-technical stakeholders when required.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation and written communications.
  • Lead meetings, present project information, and communicate effectively to large audiences.
  • Challenge existing processes when necessary, handling differing opinions with professionalism and tact.
  • Participate as part of project teams ranging from 15–20 engineers on major initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any ABET-accredited discipline acceptable).
  • 3–5 years of experience for Level 3.
  • 5+ years of experience for Level 4.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to:
    • Interpret engineering documentation.
    • Understand and produce technical writing.
  • Ability to interpret CAD drawings.
  • Proven experience bridging multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and meeting-facilitation skills.
  • Ability to influence, challenge, and collaborate across teams with diplomacy.
