Project Scheduler III (Outage Scheduler –Primavera P6)
Contract Duration: Through 10/01/2026 (High potential for extension)
Work Location
- Hybrid work model with primarily remote work and required on-site visits across Michigan plant locations.
- Plant sites include Jackson, Bay City, and West Olive, Michigan.
- Travel includes pre-outage walkdowns and daily on-site presence during the first 1–2 weeks of outages.
- Periodic site visits are required during later phases of outages.
- A per diem of $550/week is available to candidates relocating to Michigan at their own expense.
Job Overview:
Consumers Energy is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Scheduler III with expertise in Primavera P6 to support periodic SLA-forced outages across five fossil fuel generation sites. This position is integral to the success of outage execution and planning cycles and will involve developing, maintaining, and integrating outage and project schedules, working cross-functionally with plant and engineering teams.
While this role is titled as a “Project Scheduler,”the actual day-to-day responsibilities are closer to a Forced Outage Scheduler working in a fast-paced, plant-based environment. This is a hybrid position with some on-site travel to Michigan-based plants required, particularly during critical outage phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, build, and maintain comprehensive Primavera P6 schedules for planned outages across up to five fossil generation sites.
- Coordinate outage schedules with internal teams including:
- Engineering
- Plant Operations
- Project Managers
- Outage Managers
- Integrate capital project timelines into the overall outage schedule.
- Attend and contribute to daily outage meetings, both virtually and in-person, particularly during the early and closing stages of an outage.
- Perform pre-outage site walkdowns to assess readiness and better understand the scope of upcoming outages.
- Adjust schedules based on real-time operational needs and communicate schedule risks or deviations to leadership.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely execution of outage activities in accordance with SLA deadlines.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Primavera P6 scheduling in an industrial, utility, or energy environment.
- Strong background in project scheduling with direct involvement in large, cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid role with occasional extended on-site presence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with generation plants, turnarounds, or outage management.
- Familiarity with fossil fuel generation or utility plant operations.
- Certifications such as PMP, PMI-SP, or AACE are a plus but not mandatory.
