Real Estate Document Specialist III
Contract Duration: Contract through December 31, 2026 (High potential for extension)
Location: Jackson, MI 49201
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (In-office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday;remote Wednesday and Friday);7: 30 AM –4: 00 PM (Flexible)
 
 
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Real Estate Document Specialist III to join the Project Controls within Real Estate team. This role is essential in managing and maintaining critical documentation related to various real estate acquisitions, including easements, fee purchases, and temporary rights, supporting Consumer Energy’s operations in multiple departments.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Document Management: You will oversee the management and maintenance of all documents related to land acquisitions. This includes physical and digital records, such as easements, payments, receipts, and other supporting documents.
  • Data Entry and Validation: Responsibilities include validating and uploading documents into the company’s LPM system and ensuring accurate data entry, such as dates, agreement types, and payment details.
  • W9 Management: For acquisitions involving payments, you will also handle W9s for all relevant parties, ensuring compliance with company retention policies.
  • Collaboration: Work with field agents to ensure documents received via PO box are properly sorted, validated, and uploaded. Ensure hard copy documents are accurately compared against digital records.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Attention to Detail: A critical part of this role is ensuring the accuracy of all documents and data entry.
  • Experience with Document Handling & Data Entry: Prior experience with handling, filing, and organizing large volumes of documentation is required.
  • Software Proficiency:
    • Microsoft Excel: Basic to intermediate skills for data entry and document organization.
    • Adobe Acrobat: Experience with extracting and combining PDF files.
    • LPM (Land Works): Knowledge of LPM or similar software for document uploads is required.
    • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience is a plus but not mandatory.
 
Key Attributes:
  • Reliability: Must be punctual, organized, and able to handle sensitive information in a secure and efficient manner.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Must be comfortable working in a team environment and communicating effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
 
Additional Notes:
  • No real estate background is required for this role. The primary focus is document management and attention to detail.
