Position Summary:
CMS Energy is seeking a skilled Real Estate Permit/Zoning Specialist III to support the acquisition of permits and zoning approvals for new and existing utility infrastructure. This role requires a professional with a solid understanding of land use regulations, real estate documentation, and the permitting process for construction and maintenance activities.

Position Summary:
CMS Energy is seeking a skilled Real Estate Permit/Zoning Specialist III to support the acquisition of permits and zoning approvals for new and existing utility infrastructure. This role requires a professional with a solid understanding of land use regulations, real estate documentation, and the permitting process for construction and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and communicate with local, state, and federal agencies to secure required permits and approvals.
- Interpret and apply jurisdictional zoning codes, ordinances, and land division regulations.
- Manage multiple permitting and zoning projects concurrently, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
- Follow internal policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
- Review and interpret real estate documents, legal descriptions, plats, and construction-related drawings.
- Prepare and submit requests for certificates of insurance and bond postings.
- Draft and send correspondence, including overnight documentation, as required.
- Maintain detailed records of project progress, documentation, and communications.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Right-of-Way or Real Estate industry.
- At least 1 year of direct experience in permitting and zoning-related responsibilities.
- Proven experience working with zoning, land divisions, and utility permitting.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting legal documents and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
