Position Summary
CMS Energy is seeking a qualified Real Estate Title Agent I to join our team in Jackson, MI. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in the Right of Way/Real Estate industry, with a minimum of 1 year in the capacity of a Title Agent. This role will primarily involve thorough due diligence, land title research, and management of various conveyance documents. The candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of land rights documentation.

The candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of land rights documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Document Management: A thorough understanding of various conveyance documents, land-related contracts, and agreements, including fee simple, rights-of-way, leases, easements, licenses, permits, and releases.
- Due Diligence: Perform internal and external due diligence to ensure the accuracy and completeness of land rights and identify deficiencies that require corrective action.
- Workload Management: Demonstrate the ability to plan and organize workload, adapt to changing priorities, and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Process Adherence: Follow established company policies, procedures, and processes to efficiently complete tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Real Estate & Title Knowledge: Strong understanding of settlement instruments and contract terms.
- Land Title Research: Ability to read and interpret land legal descriptions and conduct land title research in courthouses and other government offices of record.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in the Right of Way/Real Estate industry, including at least 1 year working as a Title Agent.
- Documentation & Reporting: Proficiency in preparing and utilizing spreadsheets and other tools to support real estate efforts and document findings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a similar title agent role within the utility or energy sector is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
