Position Overview
The Resource Scheduler IV (Planner/Scheduler) will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing system work plans to support operational excellence within CMS Energy. This role plays a key part in aligning cross-functional teams, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and maintaining transparency through data reporting and performance metrics. The incumbent will collaborate with multiple departments to facilitate planning, scheduling, and execution of operational and maintenance activities that meet company, regulatory, and customer objectives.

Position Overview
The Resource Scheduler IV (Planner/Scheduler) will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing system work plans to support operational excellence within CMS Energy. This role plays a key part in aligning cross-functional teams, ensuring efficient resource utilization, and maintaining transparency through data reporting and performance metrics. The incumbent will collaborate with multiple departments to facilitate planning, scheduling, and execution of operational and maintenance activities that meet company, regulatory, and customer objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize work plans that ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to company and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate hand-offs to resource scheduling teams, coordinate with operations managers, and ensure project alignment among key stakeholders.
- Lead and participate in contractor workload meetings, operational reviews, and program management sessions.
- Build and maintain reporting dashboards and performance metrics to track customer delivery, SAIDI, safety, and forecast performance.
- Create comprehensive work plans covering pole replacements, circuit inspections, outage reduction, regulation testing, leak surveys, cathodic protection, and other critical programs.
- Conduct risk analyses and resource assessments to ensure balanced work distribution and cost-effective execution.
- Monitor project performance, budget adherence, and resource allocation;identify variances and provide corrective recommendations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders to support timely, data-driven business decisions.
- Collaborate weekly with resource scheduling to ensure all work is captured and tracked accurately.
- Maintain monthly and year-to-date forecasts of O&M labor hours and provide variance explanations.
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce O&M costs and improve scheduling efficiency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Solid understanding of project planning, scheduling, and life cycle development.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Working knowledge of utility practices, resource scheduling tools, and SAP preferred.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (required).
- 2–4 years of experience in planning, scheduling, and performance metric analysis within utility or industrial environments (required).
- High School Diploma required.
