Job Description

Title: SQL Developer
Location: Montgomery, AL (100% Onsite role)
Duration: 12-month contract
Position Description
Full proficiency in T-SQL as identified by the development manager, including creating stored procedures, SSIS ETL packages, unit tests, and documentation of developed code. Status updates should be provided as requested by the Project Manager and Development Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Writing advanced SQL commands.
  • Testing and troubleshooting database procedures and ETL packages.
  • Eliciting data requirements through interviews, document analysis, data requirements workshops, use cases, data analysis, and task/workflow analysis.
  • Working with SQL Server versions 2012 and later.
  • Developing new SSIS/SSRS packages to meet business needs.
  • Writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Independently translating business requests into queries or ad hoc reports.
  • Reviewing table structures and understanding the database schema.
  • Reviewing existing stored procedures and SSIS packages to understand processes.
Skills Required
  • Proficiency in SQL, including experience with SSIS.
  • Experience creating stored procedures, views, triggers, functions, T-SQL, indexes, cursors, and performance tuning.
  • Ability to write complex queries using SQL.
  • In-depth knowledge of database performance tuning using SQL Profiler.
  • Experience developing and supporting existing production systems both technically and functionally.
  • Collaboration with developers and analysts to ensure requirements are met and performance is optimized.
  • Ability to collaborate with Product Owners and SMEs to scope opportunities, identify constraints, and mitigate risks.
  • Research and adapt technical solutions to changing business needs.
  • Ability to provide technical mentoring to team members.
  • Actively seek opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
  • Experience researching, evaluating, and recommending new internet tools and applications.
  • Experience developing automated tests for regression and unit testing.
  • Advanced knowledge in SSRS for report development.
Experience Required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with extensive knowledge of Agile process development in .NET, MVS, and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to document code developed by analysts.
  • Experience with project development methodology and practical application of the methodology.
Experience Preferred
  • 7 years of experience in SQL development, including:
    • 5 years of experience with stored procedures and SSIS ETL packages.
    • 5 years of experience in ETL development.
    • 5 years of experience with tools for data extraction and migration.
  • Prior experience with Medicaid/Medicare is preferred.
Education Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
