Administrative Scheduling Assistant / Scheduler I
Contract Duration: Through September 7, 2026 (High potential for extension)
Work Location: Grand Rapids, MI  49548
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (In-office: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote: Wednesday, Friday)
 
Position Summary:
CMS Energy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Scheduler I to support and coordinate scheduling operations within our business unit in Grand Rapids, MI. This role is vital to ensuring effective daily work planning, resource allocation, and communication across teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in scheduling, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement daily work schedules and plans.
  • Organize and dispatch assignments, facilitate daily/weekly scheduling meetings.
  • Conduct short-range forecasting based on operational needs.
  • Effectively communicate with field operations, supervisors, and support groups.
  • Utilize internal systems to monitor work progress, submit work orders, and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Analyze data to support scheduling adjustments and performance improvements.
  • Respond to emergent issues aligned with business unit protocols.
  • Prepare and deliver reports;take necessary actions based on insights.
  • Support other business unit-specific administrative or operational tasks.
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in Business or related field, OR 2–4 years of relevant experience in scheduling, customer service, or data/reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Able to manage urgent tasks and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency with scheduling tools, reporting systems, and related technology.
  • Preferred: Knowledge or prior experience in utility operations or field service scheduling.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment.
  • Ideal for individuals with customer-facing experience and a background in scheduling, dispatch, or resource coordination.
