Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Block has an exciting career opportunity for an Strategic Sourcing Specialist supporting Operational Supporting based in San Francisco (or remote) to support the sourcing requirements of Blocks Global Procurement Organization. This is a chance for a highly motivated person with professional experience in a sourcing organization.
As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist supporting Operational Sourcing, you will support vendor engagement requests through the source-to-pay process while providing customer service to the requesters and stakeholders. You will:
  • monitor supplier data and performance with limited guidance.
  • use existing frameworks to solve purchasing and supplier problems and identify areas with a focus on process improvements.
  • design solutions for diverse user identities, backgrounds, viewpoints, and cultures.
  • offer guidance to and share knowledge with your teammates and collaborators.
  • work within one or more teams to communicate knowledge related to a broad set of purchasing tasks.
  • plan and execute prioritized project work, selecting appropriate methods to most effectively achieve assigned sourcing objectives.
  • are expected to uphold, champion, and exemplify Block values .
Ongoing
  • Provide Stakeholders and DRIs with Sourcing Support for Vendor Engagement Requests through the Source to Pay Process that are lower spend & lower risk.
  • Ensure Vendor Engagement Requests include all necessary contracts, templates, documents, and information needed for review.
  • Deliver project work with limited assistance and can project manage small sub-working groups independently.
  • Revise spend classification as required.
  • Identify and track trends impacting sourcing strategies for spend category and/or region under purview, such as high impact/risk commodities/categories, that adversely impact company position.
  • Support contract development, including an understanding of legal and contract requirements and use of existing templates, and maintain contract templates/supplier contract repository.
  • Identify and recommend creative ways to improve on solutions to defined purchasing problems via selection of better methods/tools.
  • Understand and comply with the procurement organizations regulatory policies and controls, the companys Code of Conduct and policies, and external regulatory policies and laws. (e.G., record-keeping).
  • Recognize and resolve various issues and note patterns to improve existing processes.
  • Execute with a focus on striving towards your Objective & Key Results (OKRs)
  • Work within one or more teams to communicate knowledge related to a broad set of purchasing tasks.
  • Participate in the Procurement teams discussions constructively, for example, by asking questions or providing feedback.

Qualifications
You have:
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement, strategic sourcing, and/or contract management experience, preferably in a high-growth technology environment.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited top tier university
  • Effective Empathy and Emotional Intelligence.
  • Familiarity with Procurement | Source-to-Pay Processes.
  • An ability to influence others, including senior management in a very fast paced environment.
  • Superior stakeholder customer service, relationship management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Oracle is a plus.
