Telecom Technical Specialist I Location: Jackson, MI 49201 Contract Duration: Until 12/15/2026 with High Possibility of Extension Work Schedule: On-site 3 days a week
Job Overview:
The Telecom Technical Specialist I will be responsible for executing and enhancing standard processes related to telecom design and delivery for electric substation facilities. This role requires clear communication of work processes and status updates to various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, enabling the efficient direction of schedules and project delivery. The specialist will support project engineering and design teams, as well as construction and field personnel, with telecom-related coordination of buildouts, including cellular study analysis using relevant tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and execute telecom design and delivery processes for electric substation projects.
Communicate project status, work processes, and updates effectively to multiple stakeholders.
Support project engineering, design, construction, and field teams in telecom coordination for buildouts.
Perform cellular study analysis and utilize applicable tools for the analysis.
Track and maintain project statuses, including new, change, and disconnect telecom orders.
Ensure compliance with IEEE standards for high-voltage substation communications.
Continuously seek improvements for telecom solutions, systems, and processes.
Enforce processes and procedures to ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 2 years in telecom or related field.
Technical Knowledge:
Expertise in LAN, WAN, and telecom technologies.
Proficiency in submitting and tracking telecom orders (new, change, disconnect).
Understanding of IEEE standards for HVD substation communications.
Skills:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and project statuses.
Proficiency in databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to balance technical requirements with business needs.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams, including vendors, engineers, Project Managers, and IT.
Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service to internal business partners.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and manage projects independently.
