Test Technician
12 Months contract
Austin, Texas (Onsite)
JOB DUTIES
The candidate will configure and maintain test hardware and infrastructure across server systems. Responsibilities include ensuring systems remain operational and up to date, replacing processors and other hardware as needed, and maintaining hardware and validation infrastructure in a test-ready state to support client roadmap schedules.
A strong sense of urgency is essential. The candidate must be able to multitask effectively in high pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
3+ years of PC validation experience
Knowledge of MS Windows and Linux operating systems (installation, configuration, testing)
Strong proficiency with the Linux command line
Excellent problem-solving and regression troubleshooting skills
Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities;capable of managing functional project issues
Solid understanding of PC architecture and peripherals
4+ years of PC validation/testing experience with strong analytical skills
Experience with x86 PC architecture, including:
Memory
PC buses (PCI E, USB, SATA, Ethernet)
Processor and chipset subsystems
Preferred OS capabilities:
Install, configure, and troubleshoot MS Windows OS and Linux OS
Software expertise in x86 environments, including configuring and modifying BIOS settings, installing device drivers, and setting up applications
PC hardware setup and configuration, including installation of processors, hard drives, network cards, and memory
Preferred experience with multiprocessor platforms (e.G., workstations, servers)
Ability to read and follow detailed technical instructions
Demonstrated team spirit, collaboration, and support of group decisions
Strong written communication skills (email, issue submission, test documentation)
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
Quick learner, capable of mastering new concepts, applications, and operating systems in a short time
