Job Title: Web Applications Programmer (.Net)
Job Location: Montgomery, AL
Duration: 6 Months (Contract to hire)
Job Description:
  • This position will support the systems using VB.NET and Microsoft SQL for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software applications.
  • Candidate must have 2+ years of verifiable .NET and SQL Server experience.
  • This contractor must be able to qualify for the client Merit employment. It is the intention to convert this contract position to a permanent position within 6 months of employment
 
Required Skills:
  • The candidate must have the ability to understand system requirements, develop applications within the .NET framework, and assist with documentation, including detailed design and program specifications.
  • The candidate must have experience with VB.Net, MVC, and ASP.Net (preferably ASP.Net Core) and also experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The candidate must access and manage data stored in the database.
  • They must be able to write ad hoc and complex queries using MS SQL Server.
  • The candidate may also be responsible for helping users with any technical issues by answering questions, dealing with bugs, and following up on requests.
  • Before implementation, you'll be expected to test any software you develop or modify thoroughly. The candidate must be able to work independently and as a valued team member.
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of staff. Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential to this position.
Required Experience:
  • Candidate must have 2 to 5 years of programming/systems analysis experience using ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL in an online environment.
 
Preferred Skills:
  • This position will perform complex analysis, design, development, and maintenance using VB.NET and Microsoft SQL.
  • The ability to develop system and program documentation is also required.
  • The candidate must be able to perform testing of modifications and enhancements to ensure system integrity. The ability to debug and resolve production problems using system development processes and standards as defined is also a requirement.
  • Transfer of knowledge and skills to junior-level programmers may also be needed. This position will be under the direct supervision of the State of Alabama Team Lead and technical experts.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
